(Queen’s Park) - Randy Hillier, MPP (Lanark-Frontenac-Lennox and Addington) presented a motion in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario to amend Canada’s Constitution, embedding property rights for the people of Ontario within the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. If passed in the Legislative Assembly and in the Canadian House of Commons, the resolutions will, under the terms of the amending formula in Section 43 of the Constitution Act, 1982, become part of the Constitution of Canada.

Randy was joined at Queen’s Park today with various contractors from across Ontario. The Defending Employee’s Rights Act (Collective Bargaining and Financial Disclosure by Trade Unions), 2012, is the start of a series of labour reform Bills that Randy Hillier will be introducing in the coming weeks.

(QUEEN’S PARK) - MPP Randy Hillier, Ontario PC Critic for Labour, tabled The Trust in Arbitration Act yesterday. The legislation is the Ontario PC’s strong response to the McGuinty Government’s ongoing shell game with public sector union negotiations.

“For several years now we Conservatives, along with countless others, have told this Liberal government that Ontario’s arbitration system needs to be fixed for the broader public service,” said Hillier yesterday in the Legislature, “or, in light of our recent and poor economic performance, Ontario’s broader public hindrance.”

The vote successfully passed despite significant opposition from the minority Liberal government who refused to acknowledge a world-wide repudiation of breed specific legislation.

(Queen's Park) - MPP Randy Hillier (Lanark-Frontenac-Lennox and Addington) questioned both the Minister of Consumer Services, Margaret Best, and the Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities (MTCU), Glen Murray, in the Legislature today about bureaucratic confusion and incompetence in their Ministries that will result in a significant number of electrical contractors across Ontario losing their license to work.

(QUEEN'S PARK) - Randy Hillier, MPP for Lanark-Frontenac-Lennox and Addington today tabled legislation that calls for the return of grand juries in the province of Ontario. This Bill is one of a number of amendments to the judicial system which Mr. Hillier has recently tabled.

“Throughout my career, I’ve been a proponent of freedom, justice and democracy,” said Hillier. Grand juries were once a key component of our justice system until 40 years ago and the creation of the Ombudsman’s office. However, with the exponential rise in the number of unelected, unaccountable government agencies, the need for grand juries has never been greater or more apparent.”
