The Scuttlebutt from Queen's Park: April 25th, 2014

In addition to looking for warmer weather and Easter eggs last week, many people, including the OPP, were on the hunt for computer hard drives, emails and the truth that appears to have gone missing from Queens Park. During the hunt it appears the Globe & Mail may have stumbled upon another Government scandal regarding taxpayer’s money.

While all the political shenanigans rage around us, we may soon find some relief with a probable election. It certainly appears that the NDP has finally tired of propping up the Liberal Government and are talking a tougher line on the budget being introduced on May 1. Due to the rules of the House, if the Government falls on the budget, the election would be held between mid to late June.

I've decided to continue to keep above the partisan fray and assist my constituents in practical as well as legislative ways. My non-partisan Bill 124 to allow misbehaving politicians to be recalled by their constituents is gaining a lot of traction, especially at the municipal level with a number of cities and townships endorsing it. Sign my petition to let hard-working Ontario citizens keep their politicians accountable.

We had a great turnout for the Broken Hydro demonstration in Carleton Place, with over 400 people attendingEven more have signed the petition. We continue making progress on the hydro problems and if you are a constituent of mine, and need assistance, contact my office.

On April 22 I hosted a workshop and seminar on Social Media for Rural Business to help the businesses in my riding. See how the event unfolded.

This week the Liberals released a report card on how well they’ve done over the past 11 years. Surprise, surprise they gave themselves an A+. Earlier this month instead of asking myself how I’ve been doing, I conducted a survey throughout my riding to over 50,000 households on what matters to the people of Lanark, Frontenac, Lennox & Addington. You can view the results here.

To stay updated on my initatives, you can follow me on Facebook or TwitterAnd of course you can always contact me at one of my offices in Perth, Carleton Place, Napanee and Queen's Park.
