Fix the WSIB

Starting January 1st, 2013, the WSIB requires independent contractors and operators to pay WSIB coverage even though most have cheaper and better insurance.

WHEREAS beginning 1 January 2013 WSIB was expanded to include groups of employers
and principals who had previously been exempt from WSIB and had private insurance;
AND WHEREAS this new financial burden does nothing to improve worker safety and
only drives up the cost of doing business in Ontario;
WE the undersigned petition the Legislative Assembly of Ontario as follows: To repeal the statutory obligations created by Bill 119

    The increased costs to all business’s is substantial. Especially self employed trades where the WSIB rates are between $5 to $12 per $100. A private disability insurance coverage is far less expensive and coverage much greater. All businesses have to pass this cost on to the consumers so everyone should expect increases from many of our products and services.

    The new WSIB scam is only going to make more and more business people to do cash jobs ,whenever possible, this is the biggest ripoff i’ve ever seen.

    The WSIB must be rewritten completely. Since the name change a number of years ago. Here is the present aim of WSIB- – - – TO DENY AS MANY CLAIMS AS POSSIBLE AND TIE UP OUTSTANDING CLAIMS IN THE BUREAUCRATIC WORLD OF OZ.

    This is another reason that the present government must be removed immediately.

    Small business construction is being crippled by the economic recession and government regulation. Just because the swelled provincial government cannot manage itself and is broke, it should not be taking down small business with it in its final grasp for any fees possible.

    I thought we lived in a country where we had choices.

    People need coverage outside of work.

    Just another way to put underground at an advantage.

    They won’t pay it because they will work for cash.

    It is the customers that offer cash because of all the extra

    cost to perform the same work.

    They do everything to raise revenues at working tax payers expense and almost nothing to prevent the out of control fraud.

    I operate a small carpentry business in which I do 90% of my business for homeowners which would allow me to stay exempt from WSIB fees. After contacting the WSIB they provided that even though 10% of the work performed is for other contractors I would still need to pay the over 9% premiums on all my work OR refuse the work from other contractors. I replied with -“unfortunately I don’t have the luxury to pick and choose jobs/contracts in this economy. I cant afford to turn away opportunities on the hope I can obtain 100% of the work strictly from homeowners.”
