Bill 162 Lobbyist Registration Act

Make your voices heard on Bill 162, changes to the Lobbyist Registration Act

We expect our elected members to be responsible when meeting with special interests. Ontario however has a very poor track record in accountability and in consequences for wrongdoing for both members and the special interest groups. On February 20th 2020, I am bringing my bill, The Public Accountability and Lobbyist Transparency Act, to the House for Second Reading debate to encourage all MPPs to reign in the lobbyists and end wrongdoing by passing my Bill 162.

You can help hold lobbyists and your elected members responsible by singing my petition, and by contacting your MPP and the Premier ([email protected]) demanding they support Bill 162. I hope I can count on your support.

Until 2nd Reading of Bill 162

A Petition to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario – Lobbyist Registration Act

WHEREAS currently the principals and owners of lobby firms and Cabinet Ministers are not required
to report to the Lobbyist Registrar;

AND WHEREAS there is nothing preventing principals of a lobby firm from influencing the public policy process from within government while their employees are lobbying the same government on matters of public policy;

WE the undersigned petition the Legislative Assembly of Ontario as follows: That the Lobbyist Registration Act be amended by passing Bill 162, the Public Accountability and Lobbyist Transparency Act, 2019 to require stronger reporting mechanisms on the activities of lobbyists and the principals of the firms they work for, and require that Cabinet Ministers also be required to report their interactions with lobbyists and lobbyist firms’ principals.
